Keep it up President Bush

By fighting these terrorists in Iraq, Americans in uniform are defeating a direct threat to the American people. Against this adversary, there is only one effective response: We will never back down. We will never give in. And we will never accept anything less than complete victory.

AND

To all who wear the uniform, I make you this pledge: America will not run in the face of car bombers and assassins so long as I am your Commander-in-Chief.

I want my funk uncut

On the way to the Red Cross to give blood, P-funk came on, courtesy of The Groove, XM 64. Had to sit in the car 'til that played through. Make my funk the P-funk!

Jobs

GM announces it will let 30 000 people go, and it makes headlines. My wife opens a business and hires 3 people, and there is no news. I am sure she in not the only one adding good jobs to this economy, but since that is good news, it's not newsworthy.

Drought

The Craftsman Truck Series is over (congrats Tim Musgrave). The Busch Series is over and Truex Jr. Is a two-timer. After the Cup is awarded later this afternoon, what'll I do? Hurry up Speed Week. February 19th isn't really that far away.

Running Scared?

Perhaps Mertha and other Dems know that I the next 2 years that things will be much better in Iraq, and that Bush will look great. They are trying to win 2008 now, knowing that they will be toast with a stable Iraq. Cynical, but possible

Fool 'em

One of the best ways to hide an undeniable truth from black people is to call it racist. It will guarantee that a bunch of folks will stop thinking and start emoting.

Troop Withdrawal

We need to withdraw from Iraq. Right after we withdraw from Germany, Japan, South Korea, and Kosovo to name a few.

Lean harder on the opposition Mr. President, lean harder.

The War

King Abdullah of Jordan is calling for a Jihad on Terrorism. Encouraging. I am glad that Bush acknowledged that we are in a war and got us into this war early. This is going to be long and painful, but the fight cannot be avoided.

French Fraud

It is no wonder why France did not want to invade Iraq. Aside from its financial goodies it acquired during the Oil for Food give-away, it could not handle a heatwave a few years back, resulting in the deaths of 15 000 people. Now it can't handle civil unrest. How useful would they be in a real war? Not very.

To paraphrase what I read in one of Karl Zinsmeister's books, a gun from a French soldier sold on e-bay would have the following caption: "like new, never used, dropped once."

Labonte at Petty

My 7-year-old son who loves Bobby Labonte (man did he cry when he lost to Jimmy Johnson at Charlotte). I asked him

"Guess who is going to be in the 43 next year"
"Bobby Labonte" (no smile)
"What's wrong?"
"Man, he is going to be slow!"

How do you tell a 7-year-old not to believe his lying eyes?

Just a little more Nascar

Oh sigh. Only 2 more weekends and then the season is over. Hurry up Valentine's Day! That's when the racing resumes at Daytona and the drought will be over.

I will have to go to my standby these days, the Philadelphia Eagles. At least they got the T. O. tumor removed; he was far from benign.

Jordan

From King Abdullah:

"These acts will not make us... retreat from our role in fighting terror in all its forms," said the leader of a state which is a key US ally."

Stay strong, Jordan. Don't be afraid.
